Graze University
Sharpen your pencils, kids. Graze University, the cure for the common January malaise, is here!

GU is a low tuition, high fruition learning event/potluck at our favorite neighborhood Hideout.
Show up at six, and we’ll all share a meal and drinks together. Bring your famous homemade manicotti or Mom’s meatloaf to share. Susty Party has generously provided the compostable table service—you bring the food.
After we’re properly fed and conversed, we’ll learn from various know-it-alls around the city, on topics ranging from
- How to make the most perfect pie crust (Rachel Adams, Piebird)
- The history and future of whiskey (Meg Bell, Koval Distillery)
- A year in the life of a restaurant (Thomas Cirnigliaro, Rewster's Cafe)
- How to turn your mediocre life events into fiction (Bobby Evers)
- How to eat like a Neo-Futurist (Mary Fons and Jessica Anne, Neo-Futurists)
- How to assemble a song (The Halamays)
- Five major issues related to global commercial fisheries and farms (Brooke Havlik, Shedd Aquarium)
- Why does that museum have a farm? (Harishi, Jane Addams Hull House)
- How to be vegan without being an asshole (Sean Shatto)
- How to self-publish a book (Laura Szumowski)
---and more!
Each mini-class runs only five minutes, so there’s no time to pass notes or take a nap.
Once we’ve gotten our learn on, The Halamays will close out the evening with their catchy electro-pop tunes that will make us forget that it’s been dark since the early afternoon.
All this amazing learning is being imparted to your sweet brains for only $5 and a dish to pass! See you there!
